Its burn your fingers time :-).  The R1 (bike) has something called an exup valve which basically controls a butterfly in the exhaust which opens and closes the exhaust pipe.  This is to reduce emissions and something I dont need on the car the problem with just removing it is that a fault code will permiantly show on the dash which I dont want.  Some of the top people on locostbuilders.co.uk have a solution to this which involves a few diodes and resistors.

The parts needed are as follows with Maplin codes and cost less than £5

1 x SC79 mini abs box
3 x M47k Mini resistor 47k
2 x QL80 1N4148
1 x QF46 BZV85C 5V1
1 x AT98 Gen Elec 10uF 16v
1 x JP46 Strip Board 1039
1 x QQ14 BC547C
1 x DC17 32 Socket Strip

The Bits:

The circuit diagram the lines relate to the strip board

Once you have the bits place them in the above arrangement and flux and solder and toy will get the following

Once this is done cut the housing for the wires and fix in and your done
